I've always been a big fan of the game Risk. It might be the frustration of being beaten by a friend in the board game, or being tromped by the AI in the video game, but something draws me to the challenge.

Big Fish Games has choosen Risk for the PC (yes, includes Vista) as their editors pick. And our own Casual Gamer, Jennifer, has given it a thumbs up review:

"The AI in Risk is pretty good. I have been defeated, but I also know that I made a couple mistakes. I wasn’t paying attention when I was attacking and stranded some of my troops in two different territories. You can only reinforce one time each turn. The AI will also attack you to ruin your bonus if you own an entire continent. The AI is also smart enough to just reinforce their troops if they don’t have many territories on the board."

The hardest thing to find, on the web, is a casual game that's of higher quality. Sure, PopCap Games presents tons of great casual gaming experiences but they're, typically, a sure thing when it comes to the casual experience. Big Fish Games takes on many projects and this one is a high quality experience, "the sound for the explosions when the battles take place is really good. The explosions don’t sound cheap."
