Not too long ago I started playing Splinter Cell: Double Agent(SPDA). SPDA is not a brand new game, it was released a few months ago. I have never played any of the Splinter Cell series of games and I was really looking forward to the release of this game. There were some delays in the release but finally it was released. Once it was released, my life got really busy and that is why I am just getting a chance to play it now.
This Splinter Cell is a little different from the rest of the series because, as the title implies, you are a double agent. The main character, Sam Fisher, is working as an undercover agent in a terrorist group. You have to balance doing what the terrorist group asks of you and achieving the objective of taking down the terrorist group from within.

I am not very far in the game, but I did want to give my impressions of the game so far. Normally I don't play first person shooter type games. I know this is not the usual first person shooter game because you don't just run in and shoot people and go on your way. In this game you need to sneak around to achieve your objectives. Sam Fisher is equipped with a device that tells you how close you are to being discovered. There are three levels. A green light, obviously, means you are in very little danger of being discovered, a yello light means you are in some danger of being discovered and the red light pretty much means you have been discovered.
So far I have found this game interesting and fun, but difficult. As I have said before a first person shooter type game is not normally what I play so it takes a bit to get use to the camera view and figure out how to use all of the devices I am equipped with. There are a few ways you can go about achieving the objectives in the game. You get more points if you complete a level without being detected as opposed to just running in and shooting everyone. Actually, if you chose to run in and shoot everyone you may not make it out alive. I was discovered the first time through and it set off an alarm that brought a bunch of people out to shoot me.
Over all I like the game. I like the fact that you have to be stealthy and sneak around to achieve your objectives. It puts a little different spin on the first person shooter. I plan to keep playing the game. Once I have got further in the game, I will blog again and to see if I am still enjoying the game or if it makes me want to throw my controller out the window.
