The concept is so vague and mindless: move through rooms in a house looking for little electronic people. How the team brainstormed that idea and didn't throw it out is beyond us. However, they took an idea that was completely unusual and produced an intense gaming experience.

Upon first inspection Elebits seems like it will grow old fast. However, it was just the opposite, it grew in intensity and difficulty. Although it doesn't have the pin-point precision of Trauma Center: Second Opinion it can become just as touch and go when dealing with obstacles.

By stage five I was asking myself how the game could increase in difficulty. Sure, they can give you more rooms to explore and lower the time limit for finding the little buggers but no - they went a different route.

  • Capture elebits without breaking objects in the house.
  • Capture elebits without making loud noises.

Sound easy? An elebit has no remorse with crashing through your personal, breakable, belongings to get away from your little zapper. They'll push a vase over if it is in the way and that vase will fall to the ground and smash. Let that happen five times and you're finished, start over.

Making noises seemed a bit easier at first...what possibly can make THAT much noise, right? Amazingly the room contained some loud devices, brass bells with ringing noise devices in them? And never underestimate the power of a shelf of china falling to the floor! You can only hit so many decibel of noise before you lose the stage, dropping a full shelf of china is not recommended.

If you just picked up Elebits and you're second guessing the games longevity, give it some time to advance and you'll see just what type of challenge awaits.

Thanks,

Derrick
